Food Bank of the Rockies (FBR) isthe largest private hunger-relief organization in Colorado and Wyoming. Founded in 1978, the organization provides food and essentials to people in need across 30 counties in northern Colorado and the entire state of Wyoming. In collaboration with the community, including nearly 800 hunger relief partners, FBR works together to ensure more than 850,000 people in their service area struggling with food insecurity have access to nutritious food.

Food Bank of the Rockies has seen a tremendous increase in need across Colorado and Wyoming as a result of COVID-19, and that need has been consistent since March. A new survey shows 1 in 7 people and 1 in 5 children face food insecurity in Colorado. And 1 in 6 people and 1 in 4 children are facing food insecurity in Wyoming.

FBR is meeting this need head-on. 96.5% of total contributions are directly invested in programs. Since March of this year, when the pandemic hit our region, FBR has distributed 71 million pounds of food. That is enough food for 59 million meals. Their monthly food distribution volume has increased by 59% over the same period last year, with some months, more than 80% over pre-COVID-19 levels. Right now, they’re distributing enough food to provide more than 250,000 meals daily.
